Hosted SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 Available From 123Together.com

Burlington, MA, April 15, 2008 – 123Together.com, the leading provider of hosted enterprise-class messaging and collaboration solutions such as hosted Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and hosted Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, today announced the release of Service Pack 1 for hosted SharePoint 3.0 to small and mid-size businesses (SMBs). This first service pack release provides businesses with increased performance, added stability and security enhancements.

123Together.com’s hosted messaging and collaboration customers can now take advantage of new document libraries, lists, and meeting workplace sites and enjoy enhancements to search capabilities, web discussions and browser-based customization. Serving as a central point of data dissemination for such things as documents, task lists, and image libraries, employees can create, share and manage project timelines, data lists, updated files, corporate photography, newly created web pages and intranet sites.

This enterprise-class collaboration tool provides businesses with increased individual and team productivity, collaboration and document sharing. It has traditionally been used by larger organizations with national or international reach since Windows SharePoint Services is not limited by geographic boundaries and stands as a central location from which to store and manage information. SMBs can also benefit from SharePoint’s collaborative features but have, until recently, been unable to do so due to the high cost and deployment delays involved in setting up servers in-house.

123Together.com’s hosted SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 now enables SMBs to take advantage of best-in-class collaboration to increase team productivity and business process efficiency without the need to incur upfront expenses, conduct additional training of IT staff or purchase of new hardware and software. Customers can sign up and collaborate with coworkers immediately on a shared or dedicated server with guaranteed uptime of 99.9% on shared servers and 100% on dedicated servers. 123Together.com also provides its hosted SharePoint Services customers with phone, email and online chat technical support 24 x 7 from its corporate headquarters in the United States. Customers’ questions are answered by hosted SharePoint experts in real time.

“We pride ourselves on providing small and mid-size businesses with the most current versions of our hosted messaging and collaboration solutions, such as hosted SharePoint Services 3.0 with Service Pack 1, as soon as they are available,” said Ravi Agarwal, senior executive officer, 123Together.com division of mindSHIFT Technologies, Inc. “Our current customers can be assured that they are utilizing enterprise-class hosted services with the most robust capabilities. Businesses who have previously been hesitant to deploy Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 without the benefit of Microsoft’s service pack enhancements can also have immediate access to hosted SharePoint for a small monthly fee and with guaranteed uptime.”

In additional to hosted Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1, 123Together.com offers SMBs a full breadth of hosted services including hosted Exchange Server 2007 SP1, virus and spam filtering, archiving and 2-way wireless synchronization with BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Good Messaging Server and Windows Mobile.

Ciracom Awarded GSA Contract to Provide USA.NET Microsoft Exchange Hosting and Enhanced Services to the U.S. Government

DENVER – April 1, 2008 – Ciracom, an information technology consulting firm and woman-owned, 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business, announced at the FOSE Exposition today that it was recently awarded a five year Information Technology (IT) Schedule 70 contract by the General Service Administration (GSA) to provide USA.NET Microsoft Exchange hosting services to the U.S. Government. GSA contract number GS-35F-0221U gives federal, state, and local government agencies the ability to conveniently purchase and deploy innovative IT solutions from Ciracom and USA.NET. Ciracom’s first government client for email hosting services is the Acquisition Services Directorate (formerly GovWorks®), a line of business within the U.S. Department of the Interior’s National Business Center.

“We are pleased that the GSA has awarded us this hosted business email government contract,” said Amy Rutt, president and CEO, Ciracom. “Email hosting services are on the GSA schedule because we are starting to see a movement towards software-as-a-service (SaaS) even in the government. We consider USA.NET as the premium provider in this space, and our partnership with them enables us to provide our government customers with a Fortune 50 platform − ensuring top-quality security no matter the size of the agency. Along with the USA.NET brand comes all of the coverage for compliance, and an audit that is very important for a government client.”

A leading SaaS company and wholly owned subsidiary of Perimeter eSecurityTM, USA.NET offers a fully integrated suite of secure email hosting services including its Microsoft® Exchange Hosting and Commercial Messaging Solution (CMS) platforms and a suite of enhanced services including Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam, Content Filtering, Encrypted Email, Email Archiving, Unified Messaging and Mobile Messaging solutions. With this GSA award, Ciracom is now able to deliver these same services and benefits to the government.

According to Doug Howard, President of USA.NET, “In the current climate of budget constraints, our SaaS offerings give predictable pricing and service levels over time without any upfront capital expenditures. The solution scales as an agency grows and the speed at which an agency can launch our service and start to see the benefits is much quicker than with traditional in-house implementations. As a part of our partnership with Ciracom, USA.NET continues to undergo rigorous network and host-based security audits in order to maintain the authority to operate its Exchange Hosting services for a government agency under the FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) compliance process.”

iPhone Business Model & impact to Exchange Hosting Providers.

Hosting Providers welcomes Apple’s announcement of support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync in the beta release of iPhone 2.0 software as it offers direct push technology whereby iPhone users can access email, contacts, calendar and IT administrators can do remote wipe if device is stolen..

iPhone is still sold through Mobile operators and unfortunately Apple is struggling to clinch a deal with other operators outside US.Though there is a limited availability in few countries in Europe.

How about Asia? Looks like operators in this region are still thinking about a best business model which suits to the users in this region. However, receiving a share of the revenue generated per handset is still Apple’s underlying business model. Whatsoever, this translate to lesser sale volume for Apple compared to Nokia..

Initially when Apple came to the market with iPhone, Nokia and others had little fear, but actually this gave them a hope of a new business model which many had never thought about it. Apple realized the potential of a converged mobile equipment and tactfully managed to negotiate a good deal with operators in US where it receives a percentage of the revenue generated per handset. In reciprocal to this deal, operators get a great deal of discount of iPhone from Apple when they sell it.

In Europe, there is a modest reception in Germany and UK. Apple is yet to formalize a deal in Asia where the mobile market is huge, especially China & India. Japan, Korea & Singapore users will be very keen to have iPhone because of the gadget love. iPhone synchronization with Hosted Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync allows companies to get the best from this device now.

What is the impact to Hosting providers?

Those customers who would like to standardize their mobile device with iPhone and have international presence especially in Asia will have impact. Alternatively, they can choose other devices which support ActiveSync. You can find more details about these devices in my previous post…

So by having iPhone 2.0 and Hosted Exchange services, you are pretty much be able to synchronize emails, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks over various wireless medium such as Wi-Fi and GPRS network.

Exchange Hosting  Providers now can offer a bundle of choice to its Mobile business users between a Windows Mobile Device, iPhone, blackberry and Good Messaging Server for full wireless push email. There are also a number of other vendors got ActiveSync ready wireless devices in the market, namely, Treo, Nokia, Motorola etc. These protocol licensees are adding functionalities quite frequently.
