Yes DAG is supported in the Exchange 2010 Standard edition

This information has until today been under NDA. But it’s great finally being able to share this tidbit with you guys.

So DAG is supported in both the Exchange 2010 Enterprise as well as Standard edition. But since the Standard edition is limited to 5 databases (versus 100 databases in the Enterprise edition), this is really only interesting to the SMORGs (small and medium organizations) out there.

Also bear in mind that since DAG still is partly based on the Windows Failover Clustering (WFC) component included with Windows Server 2008 Enterprise edition, this Windows server version is required both when utilizing DAG via the Exchange 2010 Enterprise as well as Standard edition.

Cheers,

  1. » DAG поддерживается Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 в редакции Standard edition — ExchangeRUS - сайт о Microsoft Exchange Server и электронной почте Says:

I’m was getting some conflicting information from exchange-genie.com: “because DAGs rely on Windows Failover Clustering, they can only be created on Exchange 2010 Enterprise Edition Mailbox servers that are running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise.”
    Thanks for clarifying

Windows Server 2008 Enterprise edition is required because of the need for Windows Failover Clustering but standard edition of Exchange 2010 includes DAG support. Just remember that you’re limited to a total of 5 databases (including both active and passive copies).

Can you include the information like, whether it is possible to have Enterprise and standard edition server can be configured on the same dag as member servers?
